FlexWindow Server is a program that receives e-mail and publishes content on a web site. It works with "flexwindows" - content containers that are placed on a web page. With flexwindows in place on a web page, that web page can be updated by sending an e-mail. An update begins with creating a new e-mail, and putting in the desired content. The e-mail is then send to a special e-mail address. The content of the e-mail is placed into a flexwindow.

The FlexWindow Server software translates the sent e-mail into web-ready content, and transfers the content to the right web page.

To get a feel for the overall process, try an update in the online version of FlexWindow, at http://www.flexwindow.com/demo.html. The user experience will be the same here as when using FlexWindow Server.

How does FlexWindow Server work?

To update content to a web site using FlexWindow Server, you need the following elements:
- a web site;
- an e-mail address where content updates can be sent to (a POP-box);
- FlexWindow Server installed on your server.

In short, the process works as follows.
1. An e-mail is composed with content that needs to be published
2. The e-mail is sent to an e-mail address (i.e. flexwindow@company.com)
3. FlexWindow Server reads the e-mail from the POP-box (flexwindow@company.com)
4. FlexWindow Server translates the e-mail content to web content (HTML)
5. FlexWindow Server determines the web page where the content should go
5. FlexWindow Server copies the content to the web site server (file copy or FTP)
